Leaving California
I lost weight this week but I won’t be able to give the fund-raising update until I get back in the office on Monday. Bloging from California, my mom in the next room organizing her new iMac which we picked up this afternoon at South Coast Plaza, the OC of the OC.
I attribute the weight loss to both disciplined eating and certain… “Physical activity” that (in my mind anyway) resulted in a number of calories burned above and beyond the time spent in the gym and in the pool.
This in spite of having fries from the In and Out Burger in Vegas with Mr. Wii while I enviously eyed his double double (and that’s not a sexual reference, that’s really what they call two burger patties with melty cheese from the In and Out Burger which is like Five Guys) . It was cool and breezy in Vegas and we sat underneath a fiberglass umbrella overlooking the New York skyline (again, only in Vegas (and obviously, New York), can you look at the New York skyline. We talked about everything and nothing and later, when we re-capped our week, we agreed that those 30 minutes were our favorite.
I got on the yesterday morning leaving a part of me in Las Vegas. The part that wants more time with Mr. Wii…
I also got an email from Wikipedia over the weekend, his world travels are depositing him in DC Sunday and Monday. I don’t know if I’ll see him or not, though I’m leaning toward not.
But back to Mr. Wii, because he is who I’ve been thinking about, specifically in the context of fate. Of “things happen for a reason”. Of trying to buy the Wii in DC and having the guy not show up. Logging on to Craig’s List earlier last Monday- but then not contacting anyone. Logging on to Craigs List later that same day and calling the number. His number. Which is now programmed into my cell phone (under his real name too!).
I did tell my mom (giving her the abbreviated version) and after she expressed much deserved disapproval of letting a stranger into my car, she thinks it’s a good story.
Tomorrow is a full travel day back to DC, back to work and then to Michigan..

The Wii story IS a very good story. Funny how these things work, isn’t it? I received the same disapproval from friends and family after they discovered I met “some guy”(now my husband) at a speed-dating event in DC.
I like this Mr Wii much better than Wiki already.
I am sorry to hear that fate placed you in Michigan this week. You know my feelings on this matter. Being from Ohio, I can think of no worse fate
