Cutting the Cord

Although the season finale of Lost is still two weeks away, I disconnected my cable boxes and readied them for the trip to Comcast tomorrow afternoon. With summer nearly here, the long list of things I want to accomplish was very much at odds with my penchant for Saturday and Sunday re-runs of Beverly Hills 90210. My current “situation” notwithstanding (and on a side note, I will be writing more about the “situation” sometime later this week), my cable bill even without on-demand-porn (J) was about $150/month. All of the shows that I like are either available through Netflix at $9.95/ month and most of them I can watch on-line.
I may turn the two TV sets into planters for my heirloom tomatoes. Since they aren’t HD, that might be all they’re good for in a few months anyway. Plus if gas prices reach $5.00 before the end of summer, I’ll be glad that I started growing my own food.

Desperate times call for desperate measures! But I think you’ll be surprised to find out how little you miss the television watching. It’s a crutch most of the time which keeps us from participating in real life.
Growing your own food?!?!?!? Bwa ha ha!
