Spilling the Beans

An A

It was a very good day.  Bug had her second child; a healthy baby boy 9 pounds 14 ounces, 22 inches long.   He is 1 year and 5 days younger than Yum.  I can’t remember how long Yum was but I know that he was 24 inches lost.  23 and change.  Whatever.  Kid was 2 feet long and folded into Bug’s tummy like a taco.  There’s something great about knowing that today, a new baby came into the world full of all the potential of a clean sheet of paper.  A future President, the next Golden Globe winner, a great architect.

It’s enough to make me want to shop for sperm…

…but that’s a topic for another blog.

Today was the final exam.  40 multiple choice questions on everything we’ve covered during the 6 week of prerequisites and everything from last week.  I studied for 3 hours yesterday and for an hour again this morning and when the test was over, I knew I’d done the best that I could but that there were still 8 questions that I’d missed…

But I didn’t miss 8 questions!  I only missed 4 questions earning a 90% . I got a better grade than the two System Engineers at my table and earned yet another raffle ticket for the lovely parting gifts they’ll be raffling away Friday before we’re collectively paroled.

Now I’m floating a few glasses of cheap Chardonnay (JavaMom, Toasted Head was on-sale for $9.99!) on top of a curried tofu casserole that I made over the weekend to serve as my meals for the few days that I’m still here ( 4 and counting!).

50ftQueenie and Cupcake:  I got 2lbs of Pistachios for $3.00 at this odd store here called Meijer and I don’t need to tell you how long they lasted.  I’ll say only that I shared them with others.   And by some, I mean 2 or 3.   Since I passed with an “A”, I was able to loosen up today and a few people came up to me toward the end of the day to say that they didn’t know I was that funny.

That’s because I’ve been walking around with a stick up my ass since we got here.  Didn’t mean to… but last week was grueling and I was having far too many holy-crap-what-have-I-gotten-myself-into moments to be social.  Now, everyone knows that the good coffee flows freely from room 313 and that my humor curve is on a steady incline from 10am until 1:30pm after which time I plateau until approximately 5:30pm.  Then I’m very funny on the drive from campus back to the hotel.

I’m having a bunch of people up to my room on Wednesday to watch the debates.  We have 5 Canadians in our class and we love them, Eh?   They have such an interesting perspective of the US, of our politics and in general are laid back and fun to be around.   In other words, their asses don’t have anything up them.

Only a few more days here- only 4 nights without Pumpkin.  I can’t wait!
